Dr. Govindaraja Setty A.G is a highly accomplished yoga consultant, therapist, educator, and visionary whose contributions to the field of yoga have left a profound impact on individuals and communities. With a unique blend of academic expertise, practical experience, and spiritual insight, Dr. Setty has dedicated his life to promoting the transformative power of yoga.
Dr. Setty holds a PhD in Yoga from SVYASA Yoga University, Bangalore, where his research explored the profound effects of yoga on human behavior and development. He earned his Master of Science in Yoga from the same institution and has an extensive background in Sanskrit, having completed four levels of examinations offered by Samskrita Bhārati. Additionally, his academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Business Management from Mysore University and advanced certifications in banking and business finance.
Dr. Setty's career began in the corporate world, where he served as a bank manager for nearly two decades. However, his passion for yoga and its ability to transform lives led him to transition into a full-time yoga consultant and therapist. In 1999, he founded the Saphalya Yoga and Music in Bengaluru, which has become a hub for holistic wellness and cultural enrichment while simultaneously serving as a music school of Indian Carnatic Music aspirants taught by his wife Smt. Srilakshmi Govindaraj, M.A (Music). Dr. Setty simultaneously served as a visiting yoga professor at the prestigious Indian Institute of Management, Bengaluru, India.
Dr. Setty’s work has been widely recognized at the local, state, and national levels. He has won numerous awards, including the first prize at the Karnataka State Level Yoga Championship and the Vishishta Nāgarika Prashasti. He has been honored for his societal contributions by esteemed organizations such as the Shirdi Sai Baba Temple Trust and the Karnataka Arya Vysya Mahasabha.
Dr. Setty is the author of books in both English and Kannada, including Sūrya Namaskāra: Practice and Spiritual Significance.
